Paying homage to the Key System and the "Streetcar Scandal" that led to its dissolution, this Oatmeal Stout has sweet aromatics of chocolate, pie crust, and graham cracker with coffee undertones. Lightly sweet and medium bodied. 5.4% ABV.
Beginning in 1903, the privately-owned Key System provided electric streetcar and bust service to Alameda and Contra Costa. After acquiring the company and dissolving it, General Motors was found liable for taking actions to monopolize the sale of gas-powered buses. This became known as the "Streetcar Scandal." Today, only remnants of this once thriving transit system can still be found hidden throughout Oakland.
